This year the ACO presents 5 concerts in the intimate and acoustically fine Raye Freedman Arts Centre. It has been our home for concerts for the past 5 years. Parking is free and the general environment is well suited to music making.

The ACO started in 1999 and now twice in a row has been voted best classical music concert in Auckland by Metro magazine.

A major work by New Zealand composer featured in 4 out of five concerts. The programme features a balance of well known classics (Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn) with 20thC greats (Stravinsky, Resphigi, Hindemith). ACO is well known for its challenging programming and here we focus on the Polish composer Lutoslawski and present two of his works. Arvo Pärt transcends all boundaries and is one of my favourite composers.

Above all though it's the audience experience which takes importance in our concerts. It starts with choice of repertoire and in the ACO we play a huge range of music from classical favourites though to work written recently.

We are able to continue with this series because of the support of our funding partners and the generous donations from people who come to the concerts.
